Definition section: Defines the key words that are used within the policy.

Policy statement: This statement must tell what computer services are being covered by the AUP. It also must tell the circumstances under which the students may use the computer services.

Acceptable uses section: This part defines acceptable and appropriate student use of the computer network.

Unacceptable uses section: This part defines and clearly states inappropriate student use of the computer network.

Violations/Sanctions section: This section needs to tell students how to report any violations of the policy.

Telecommunication: Any electronic device or network accessible technology used to communicate or convey audio, text, or visual messages.

Vandalizing: To subject to damage.

Plagiarizing: To steal or pass off as one’s own work. Use without crediting the source.
